It's been too long people. The last post from the peas was in October. I know I know, the shame!
I consider myself to be VERY lucky. I love my job, PR PR PR... It's my world and has a hold on my heart. It's different with two peas, in a good way. I get to be the master of my own destiny and choose who I work with. It just so happens, this tends to be rather fabulous brands and people in the world of interiors and beauty - two of my fave things.
So, when our very talented client MartinMark Design, invited us along to experience their new interior design workshops, I was cock-a-hoop! I've been working with the guys (Martin Holland and Mark Walters) for over a year now, it has been a joy!
Tasked with raising the profile of Martin Holland, we've been on a journey which has seen the series 2 winner of BBCs Great Interior Design Challenge, invited by Valspar to present at the Pantone Colour of the Year event, hold 1-2-1 design clinics and speak at Autumn & Spring Fair, and host in-store events at a leading home improvement retailer.
Martin's also been featured (multiple times) in various print and online publications including; Grand Designs, Real Homes, HomeStyle, Good Housekeeping, Metro, The Independent, City Life, BT.com (Lifestyle), you get the picture.
Next up...raising awareness for the newest venture from MartinMark Design, the workshops! We've already had some great reviews from Apartment No4, Love Chic Living, Nottingham Post and a great interview on BBC Radio Nottingham!
Now, if you're obsessed with all things interiors (like us), then this is the place for you. Not only are you treated to a delicious breakfast and epic lunch (cooked by Martin's fair hands no less - John Torode and Greg Wallace pay attention). You get to spend the day with like-minded folk, musing over materials and resources from the likes of Valspar, (the official paint sponsor), Alternative Flooring, Sofa.com, Florrie + Bill, Romo, Amtico flooring and Willow and Honey. To say nothing of the vast array of magazines and books which are all at your disposal. Heaven!
It's very relaxed and informal, but you come away with a mind-blowing amount of information, insider tips and tricks, a feeling of self-awareness and confidence around your design choices.
I won't pretend I wasn't ever so slightly nauseous when the graph paper and scale ruler came out. But, after facing my fear of MATHS (yuck), I found it surprisingly enjoyable. Of course, my favourite part was creating the mood board and colour collage, adding texture and pattern with wanton abandon. In short, I LOVED every minute and can't recommend this workshop enough. The day leaves you ready to take on, not just a room, but your whole house.
Now, how to persuade my other half it's essential we have an all dark, heavily floral inspired room makeover featuring LOTS of pink?!?
