let the games begin

Hosted by the country that brought us the Carnival, samba and fabulous Carmen Miranda, the 2016 Olympics are just days away (5-21 August), and the inevitable round the clock coverage is almost upon us.

Let's be honest, not all of us are interested in gold medals and record times.  But preparation is key, before total domination of our news ensues!

Here's our survival guide to help you through the summer games...

choose wisely - some games have more appeal than others (the men's swimming competition is a good starting point. Luca Dotto is very easy on the eye).

dive in - the games are a melting pot of culture, life and vitality! There'll be more gem encrusted lycra and tight pants than you can shake a stick at. Use it for inspo and embrace the colour and spandex.

enjoy - kick back and relax with your favourite tipple - Urban Outfitters has the perfect 'Pineapple To Go' drinking vessel, guaranteed to keep you in a sunny mood.

relax - get into the South American vibe with these cactus chairs from Oliver Bonas - so amazing you'll probably forget the games are even on.

keep cool - if it all gets too much try ice planting! Add some fresh lavender, rosemary, mint or lemon to your ice cube tray and glide over your face and body. A refreshing and lovely way to cool down.
